I wrote this thinking about those teen movie scenes where the protagonists are slow dancing in the gymnasium for homecoming or something. And they are quietly closely talking about something important but there's some vague heartbreak song playing in the background, so your ears fade in and out of focus of what the singer is saying. This is that song in my head. Also I'm a gemini sun, scorpio moon so if I ever get in a romantic relationship I will probably dramatically sabotage it all costs.
I left you lonely, didn't call you back - Hey y'know my sweater? Can I have it back?
The winter dance is just a week away, so I thought it'd be fun if you were my date.
But why does it all fall apart? I thought that I couldn't get it wrong. I'm sorry to hear I let our dinner get cold. You always knew I'd be the one to pull apart.
When you push your hair back I can't concentrate - I gotta think of excuses for why I'm coming home so late.
Our song was playing at the grocery store...then you started laughing and said, "God, you're so mature!"
But why does it all fall apart? I thought that I couldn't get it wrong! I'm sorry to hear I let our dinner get cold. You always knew I'd be the one to pull apart! I always knew I'd be the one to pull apart!
